The Dubai-based Emaar Company and Sham Holding Company are investing 100 million dollars in housing projects in Syria, the SANA news agency reported on February 27.

The companies will invest equal amounts in the project, which will include housing developments in several Syrian cities. Under the agreement, the companies will also reorganise areas where houses have been built haphazardly and without permits.

"Syria has strong potential for growth and it has a big number of investment opportunities," said Sham’s chairman Nabil al-Kizbari.
