Parliament Debates Annan Call

Al-Mada is issued daily by the Al-Mada Institution for Media, Culture, and Arts.

Parliamentary speaker Mahmood al-Mishhadani said the assembly would discuss the UN secretary-general Kofi Annan's call for an international conference on Iraq. He said that while some deputies had rejected the call, this was not the official view of parliament. Many officials and political leaders condemned Annan's proposal as interference in the Iraqi affairs.
