Al-Sabah is a daily independent publicly owned newspaper.

Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani met with Vice President Adil Abdul Mahdi, who gave the cleric a letter from Iraqi premier Nouri al-Maliki with details of the government’s new security strategy. With this meeting, the government appeared to gain the support of top clerics for the plan.
