Thursday, 29 October, 2015

The Caucasus programme of the Institute for War & Peace Reporting is pleased to announce a call for entries for the Special Prize for Peace Journalism. Awarded annually by the European Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM), the prize seeks to recognise and reward conflict-sensitive journalistic work.

The Special Prize for Peace Journalism promotes high standards of journalistic ethics and professionalism that contribute to confidence-building and peace.

The prize will be awarded to a journalist from Georgia or Abkhazia or South Ossetia whose work displays a constructive approach towards conflict situations. It will go to the author of balanced, unbiased work in print or online media, television or radio reports, web pages, blogs or social media initiatives, news agency or online newspaper contributions. Entries should have been originally published or broadcast between October 1, 2014 and October 30, 2015.

The winner will receive a 5, 000 euro voucher for a one-month fellowship at the London office of the Institute for War & Peace Reporting. This fellowship comes under IWPR’s programme Strengthening Capacities, Bridging Divides — Reducing Tensions Across the South Caucasus, funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Application forms in English and Russian as well as additional information about the prize can be found here. Entries and application forms should be submitted to caucasusprogramme@iwpr.net by November 2, 2015.

The EUMM Special Prize for Peace Journalism is funded by the European Union.
