A team from the World Health Organization visited Amarah following the discovery of bird flu there. Misan governor Adil al-Mhooder had requested aid from the Iraqi government and international humanitarian organizations to help Amarah eradicate the disease. The head of the delegation, Dr. Naima al-Kaseer, said the team would study ways to control the disease. He said they would stay in Amarah for few days to prepare reports for the WHO and (United Nations') Food and Agriculture Organisation about the health situation in Amarah.
