Syria Confirms Arab League Summit

Syria Media Report, 25-Jan-08

Syria’s permanent representative at the Arab League, Ahmed Yousef, confirmed that the grouping’s summit will take place in Damascus on March 29 and 30.

Champress, quoting Yousef in a January 19 report, said Arab League secretary-general Amr Mousa was visiting Syria to make arrangements for the summit with the country’s leaders. (Champress is a semi-independent newspaper in Damascus issued by the Independent Media Group.)

Syria News reported on January 23 that the government had approved a loan to refurbish Damascus airport ahead of the summit.
