Oliver Bullough grew up in Wales, studied history at Oxford University, and moved to Russia in 1999. Over the next seven years, he worked for Reuters in Moscow, focusing on Chechnya and the North Caucasus. After leaving Moscow in 2006, he wrote “Let Our Fame Be Great – Journeys Among the Defiant People of the Caucasus”, which won prizes in America and Britain. He combines his work for IWPR with writing a second book, about Russia’s demographic crisis, and articles for a range of newspapers and magazines.
