Medical Students Protest at Poor Conditions

Around 200 would-be doctors in Osh have staged a demonstration to air their concerns that the buildings used for tuition are inadequate.

Reporter Janar Akaev interviewed medical students who said that until recently, their faculty used to be based in a decently-equipped building in the city centre, but now they have to attend classes in a teaching block located on the edge of town with none of the facilities they need, from a library reading room to a morgue.

University management insists the new premises are an improvement, or rather will be once a specialised teaching clinic has been built there.
