Gunmen kill Takhar provincial council chief

Islah is a state-run daily published mostly in Dari.

Unknown armed men shot and killed the chief of the provincial council in the northeastern province of Takhar on April 1, officials said. The provincial police chief said that Sayed Sadiq, chief of the provincial council, was gunned down inside his home in the Khowaja Ghar district at around 5:00 on Saturday morning. He was taken to the provincial hospital in critical condition, where he died of his injuries. Police have launched a manhunt but no arrests have been made yet.
