Arab League Calls for Iraqi Unity

Al-Iraq al-Yawm is a weekly newspaper issued by Isra Shakir.

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Amr Musa, has insisted that all the Arab states are against the partition of Iraq. He said this consensus was a “red line” that all member states had agreed on, adding that United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was informed of this when she visited Egypt. Iraqis should focus on their common citizenship, not sectarian or ethnic divisions, he said. Amr Musa called for speedier progress on Iraq’s national reconciliation process, and urged the international community to support it.
