Taleban clash with police in Kandahar

Hewad is a state-run daily published mostly in Pashto.

Taleban militants attacked the Mianshin district of the southern province of Kandahar on the night of April 25. The Afghan interior ministry confirmed the news, saying armed militants attacked a security post in the district at around ten at night, but were repulsed. They then launched a second, large attack at around midnight, resulting in a two-hour firefight that left one Afghan policeman and five of the attackers dead.
