Jabbar Ulaiwi al-Saidi, the director of the migration and displacement office in Maysan province, said more than 500 families have come to Amarah (the capital of the province) since the Samarra bombing (in late February.) He said the 500 families do not include families staying with relatives who have not registered with the office. He noted that the province receives more than 20 families per day, and a camp has been established near the main entrance of the province in coordination with the Red Crescent office there. They have given the displaced families aid such as food ration cards (which entitles Iraqis to basic food and supplies.) The students are being enrolled in schools in the province and Social Protection Network stipends are being distributed (to impoverished displaced families.)
