Dozens of Taleban fighters killed in battle

Afghan forces and Coalition helicopter gunships attacked a Taleban hideout in the Zar-e-Dasht district of the southern province of Kandahar on April 14, killing 41 militants, said provincial governor Assadullah Khalid. Six Afghan policemen were killed, but there were no casualties among US-led Coalition forces, Khalid told a press conference. He added that a number of bodies of militants had been recovered. However, a senior provincial official who declined to be named said Afghan government forces suffered high casualties when several rockets mistakenly hit them.
