Two local members of staff with the United Nations were killed and a third injured when militants fired rockets at a UNICEF vehicle in the western province of Herat late on May 12, officials said. Provincial intelligence chief Musa Rasuli said the UN staffers were on their way from western Badghis to Herat when their vehicle was attacked in the Karakh district of Herat. He added that the Afghan policemen escorting the UN staff made off after the attack.
