The agriculture and livestock department in the eastern province of Nangarhar has warned poultry traders to destroy all their birds following the discovery of avian flu in the area. Departmental chief Ziaulhaq Saddiqi security officials along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border have been told to halt imports of chickens and eggs. Poultry traders in the province are asking the government to pay compensation for their losses.
