Maliki promised the public he would present his government's agenda one month after assuming power, which means we should be hearing about it by June 20. But time is ticking and Maliki is busy solving different problems. We hope that he finds enough time to present a program that differs from that of former prime minister Ibrahim al-Ja'fari. We hope that the agenda will represent all opinions in the government and not merely those of its leaders because the government must work as one team. The program should focus on improving security, eliminating unemployment and improving public services like electricity and fuel. The people don't care about general topics in the agenda. They want to see details of the government's plans, especially with regard to the issues that affect their daily lives. The public is looking for things that the government can actually achieve within its four-year term rather than the government's laundry list of goals.
