On September 18-19, Tajik president Imomali Rahmon will visit Kyrgyzstan where he and his counterpart Kurmanbek Bakiev will sign agreements on agriculture, migration controls and the protection of migrants’ rights.

The two countries are also preparing an agreement which would ban construction and economic activity in areas along their common border which have not been demarcated yet.

Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have a common interest in the creation of a United Energy Exchange – a market open to all Central Asian countries where hydroelectricity would be bought and sold.
