Prison Torture Claims

London-based Azzaman is issued daily by Saad al-Bazaz.

The deputy chief of the national assembly's human rights committee Harith al-Ubaide told parliament on Sunday that there had been many breaches in Iraqi prisons. He said there were examples of certain types of torture in jails. In an unprecedented admisson, he said that he had been to prisons and witnessed inmates who were close to death and whose skin had been removed.
