Talabani: Presidential Council to Meet Next Week

Al-Ittihad is published daily by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

President Jalal Talabani maintained that the president council will fully support the government in carrying out its agenda. In a press conference attended by (vice-presidents) Adil Abdul Mahdi and Tarik al-Hashimi, Talabani said the council would not wait until the government and the National Security Council are formed to start practicing its duties. It plans to hold a meeting next week to discuss security and to take action to stabilise Baghdad. Talabani and his two aides showed full support to the incoming prime minister (Jawad) al-Maliki and to his forthcoming government.
