UNHCR chief due in Afghanistan

Erada is an independent daily run by the Afghan Media and Resource Centre.

The new head of the United Nations refugee agency, UNHCR, Antonio Guterres, will begin a two-day visit to Afghanistan on November 22, agency officials in Kabul announced on November 20. Ahmad Nadir Farhad, a spokesman for UNHCR, said Guterres is expected to meet Afghan president Hamed Karzai and some cabinet members. The spokesman added that the High Commissioner will tour Kabul and Jalalabad to discuss the problem of returning refugees with Afghan and UN officials.
