Zelenovic was arrested in Russia last August but only arrived in The hague in June, having been sent on a roundabout route via Sarajevo. At the time, he declined to enter a plea on the charges against him and was given a further 30 days in which to do so.
Prosecutors allege that he was involved in a series of sexual assaults during the war, including the gang rape of a 15-year-old girl.
