Crackdown on unregistered vehicles in Kandahar

Outlook is an independent daily published in English.

The Afghan defence ministry says its forces have begun a clampdown on vehicles lacking valid documents.The ministry has seized dozens of vehicles for having no documents or registration number. Defence ministry spokesman Zahir Azimi said on January 18 that the Afghan National Army launched the move in Kandahar to control the illegal use of vehicles in the province. The ministry has strengthened security measures to prevent suicide attacks which are on the rise in this volatile province.
