Talabani Meets Defense Minister

Al-Ittihad is published daily by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

President Jalal Talabani met Defense Minister Abdul Qader Mohammed Jasim al-Ubaidi to discuss the Iraqi army's capacity to confront militant extremists and other armed groups. Talabani also insisted that the army should be for all Iraqis; that it must root out sectarianism; and work to safegaurd top national priorities. The defense minister underlined the importance of the army in protecting the security and stability of the country.
