Iraqi National List member Maysoon al-Damalogy said the number of female deputy ministers (may) be two in the next government as opposed to six women in the current government. She said the shift would drive the women's movement to readdress women's issues as well as their role in Iraqi society. She said she hoped a woman would head the next parliament and government, but that (discussions) on the ground indicated otherwise. She noted that women did not participate in talks about the formation of the new government.
