An Afghan National Army soldier was killed in an ambush by Taleban insurgents in the Chenarak district of the southern province of Kandahar on the night of February 5, officials said. A spokesman for the Afghan defence ministry General Mohammad Zahir Azimi confirmed the incident, adding that an operation by Afghan National Army troops is continuing in the district. Azimi said soldiers had confiscated about 183 kilograms of hashish in the course of the operation. The attack came a day after a roadside bomb killed six Afghan police in Kandahar.
