Iraqi Islamic Party Official Assassinated

Al-Mashriq is published daily by Al-Mashriq Institution for Media and Cultural Investments.

The Iraqi Islamic Party announced that one of its high-ranking officials, Sheikh Abdul Ghafoor Maree al-Rawee, was assassinated in Anbar province. The party maintained that cowardly attempts to kill its members would not stop the party from fighting oppression. The al-Qaida organisation has criticised the Iraqi Islamic Party, which advocates for the interests of Sunni Arabs, for participating in politics.
