Political parties and movements in Diwaniya have held a big demonstration asking the government to provide the most basic public services, in the wake of the worsening fuel crisis and continuing blackouts that have reached 18 hours a day. They also asked the governor to stop the series of killings and kidnappings that have engulfed the city. In a statement handed to the governor, they gave the authorities 15 days to improve the situation, otherwise they would hold province-wide protests.
