A roadside bomb blast killed Sayed Rahman, police chief of the Janikhil district of the south-eastern province of Paktika on March 19, officials said. The deputy police chief for the whole province said the incident took place when Rahman and his bodyguards were defusing a mine in the area. Two of the bodyguards sustained injuries in the blast, he added. The official did not blame any group or individual for the attack but said an investigation has been launched.
