NGOs Want Direct UN Aid

Al-Iraq al-Yoom is a weekly newspaper issued by Isra Shakir.

Thirty-three civil society organisations working in Iraq have asked the UN's special envoy to the country Ashraf Khadi to provide them with direct aid, rather than distributing it through Jordan. They warn that there have been cases of corruption similar to that in the oil-for-food-programme. They underlined the positive role Iraqi NGOs were playing locally, regionally and internationally.
