With the vote of confidence in the Wolesi Jirga or lower house of parliament, the Afghan people - despite suffering some three decades of war - have finally proved to the world that they can establish a government that serves their national interests The people of Afghanistan have been waiting for years to have a dedicated cabinet that will serve the nation. They are now hoping that ministers will deliver by working tirelessly to pave the way for our people to live in peace and prosperity. Observers say that the ministers who won a vote of confidence must demonstrate their commitment by serving the nation honestly. Otherwise the people’s representatives will have the right to withdraw their trust. Besides congratulating the president and government on the approval of most of the proposed ministers, we wish every success to the new cabinet. Bearing in mind the confidence shown by the president and parliamentarians, the new ministers must serve the nation, otherwise the wrath of God and a backlash from both president and people will make it difficult for them to answer to the nation.
