Our people need good security throughout the country as much as they need food and water. But unfortunately the overall insecurity over the past four years has endangered the lives and property of our countrymen. Kidnapping, theft and destruction are problems, which are common not only in the provinces but also in the capital. Many criminals have been arrested since the establishment of the interim government, but they have not been tried or punished due to corruption in government. Robbers and killers are not afraid of arrest and punishment. If our courts do not do their jobs honestly and do not punish criminals, we can say that the overall security situation will get much worse. And as a result the killers and thieves will join the anti-government elements and exploit the situation, as we are now seeing in the provinces.
