Homelessness on the Rise

Escalating poverty and inadequate social service provision have combined to create a a growing population of homeless in Damascus, according to a December 30 report on the pro-government website Syria Tomorrow.

In its December 5 issue, the state newspaper Tishreen also focused on homelessness, publishing a photograph of two children sleeping rough on the street alongside an article asking why there were so few agencies dedicated to tackling this issue.
