Deterioration During Ja'afari's Reign

London-based Asharq al-Awsat, a pro-Saudi independent paper, is issued daily.

Reports and statistics by international and Iraqi organisations showed that the conditions in Iraq deteriorated during prime minister Ibrahim al-Ja'afari's government compared to that of former prime minister Ayad Allawi in 2004. The reports prepared by United Nations' children's fund (UNICEF), the BBC and the Iraqi health ministry revealed an increase in violence, kidnappings and suicide attacks along with a deterioration in services.
