The health ministry denied that any bird flu cases have been found anywhere in Iraq. The head of the government's communicable diseases centre, Abdul Jalil Naji, said a special division formed in November continues to monitor the disease. The ministerial council ordered various arms of the government to take strict measures to prevent the virus from entering Iraq, especially after it spread through (eastern) Turkey. Reports on Tuesday referred to one case (of a 13-year-old girl's death in Iraqi) Kurdistan, but it was found to be unrelated to bird flu.
