A college dean survives assassination

London-based Azzaman is issued daily by Saad al-Bazaz.

The dean of the college of law at Mosul University, Dr Jafar al-Fadhla, has survived an assassination attempt. A Neniva police source said that an armed group opened fire on the dean near the institute of tourism while he was on his way to work. The source said that a bullet penetrated the dean's eye, and that he was transferred to al-Razi hospital where his condition is said to be stable.
