Violence displaces 65,000 Nigerians

Post-election violence in Northern Nigeria has turned 65,000 Nigerians into internal refugees.

The National Emergency Management Agency said Kaduna State alone accounts for 26,000 of such persons.

NEMA Director General, Muhammed Sani Sidi said during a tour of Kaduna state that refugee camps have been provided for all Internally Displaced Persons in States affected by the violence.

The camps are managed by administrators who also oversee the distribution of relief materials.

Some Political observers have cited the high number of displaced persons as a major reason why INEC should postpone governorship and State Assembly elections in the affected States.
