UN to help rebuild shrines

Al-Taakhi is issued daily by the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

Ashraf Kadhi, representing the Secretary General of the United Nations in Iraq, has said the UN and other donors will take part in rebuilding the two shrines bombed in Samarra last week, as well as other mosques damaged in the wave of riots that overwhelmed Iraq in the aftermath of the bombing. The announcement came at the end of a meeting between Iraqi planning minister Barham Salih and donor nations. Officials from the religious endowments who attended the meeting thanked the international community, and said the scheme would also include rebuilding churches that were damaged in attacks.
