Afghan border security forces arrested three Taleban fighters and seized remote-controlled landmines and other weapons in the south-eastern province of Khost on May 1, officials said. The commander of border forces in the province, Shir Ahmad Kuchi, said that the Taleban were travelling through the Ali Shir district when police intercepted their car near the Pakistani border, and arrested them after finding mines and other weapons in the car. It is believed that the men were trained in the Tal area of Pakistan’s North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan and were then sent into Afghanistan to carry out explosions.
