Suleja Bomb Blast: NYSC Compiles Names of Victims For INEC Insurance Compensation

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has compiled the names of eight serving corps members that were injured in the Suleja bomb blast for INEC’s insurance compensation.

Also to benefit from the compensation are two ex-corps members who lost their lives in the bomb explosion.
The bomb blast led to the cancellation of last Saturday’s National Assembly elections in Suleja local government area of Niger State.

Niger state Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Dauda Daniel Dauda, said that the names of the two ex-corps member and the eight injured serving corps members will be forwarded to INEC for the insurance formalities.

Dauda denied that any serving corps member died in the incident.

He also said that one of the victims – late Victoria Akande – was not a corps member as widely reported but a fresh graduate of Federal Polytechnic, Bida. She had not joined the National service when she was killed.

The chairman of INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega had at the weekend said that all the victims of bomb blasts in Suleja and Maiduguri, Borno State will benefit from the insurance policy of the commission for its entire staff, including the ad hoc staff recruited for the on-going general elections.
