Sistani Representative Killed

Al-Mashriq is published daily by Al-Mashriq Institute for Media and Cultural Investments.

A police source announced on September 3 that Sheikh Hassan Mohammed Mahdi al-Jawadi, 56, the representative of Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani in Amara (Misan province), had been killed. The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said four unidentified assailants in a car shot the cleric dead at eight in the morning close to his home. Al-Jawadi’s son, who served as a policeman, was shot dead two weeks ago.
