Sistani Backs Reconciliation Plan

Al-Adala is issued daily by the Supreme Council of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq.

Jalal al-Din al-Sagheer, a member of parliament for the [Shia-led] United Iraqi Alliance, has said [top Iraqi Shia cleric] Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani supports the authorities’ plan for national reconciliation, as he does any initiative to stop the bloodshed. Sagheer was critical of the government’s security plan [for Baghdad] but said that for all its defects, it was badly needed.
