Shia-led bloc seeks delay in first meeting of parliament

Al-Taakhi is issued daily by the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

A source in the United Iraqi Alliance said on March 7 that the bloc has asked the presidential office to postpone the first session of parliament – scheduled for March 12 - for some days to allow it to continue discussions with other parliamentary blocs. Iraqi president Jalal Talabani said the session could be postponed – the constitution allows this – if the leaders of the blocs request it.
