Russian Foreign Minister to Pay First Visit to Turkmenistan

Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov will begin his first visit to Turkmenistan on April 4. He will discuss Russian prime minister Mihail Fradkov’s trip to the country and President Vladimir Putin’s address to Turkmenistan. Russia is keen to secure healthy relations with Turkmenistan for fear that the gas-rich state may open up its reserves to other competitors.
