The Role of Higher Education

The minister for higher education and scientific research, Abid Thaib al-Ajili, has told the deans of the law, economics and administration colleges in Baghdad and Mustansiriya universities that the government understands the importance of higher education. He pledged to give universities the necessary security and financial support to enable them to practice their vital role as scientific and cultural institutions. He maintained that negotiations are underway with the government to build residential facilities for students and to set out new laws guaranteeing comfortable lifestyles for university staff.
