PRONACO Reiterates Call For Sovereign National Conference
The Pro National Conference Organisation (PRONACO), the body advocating a national conference of all ethnic groups in Nigeria, has reiterated its call.
A statement by PRONACO spokesman, Mr Wale Okuniyi urged President Goodluck Jonathan to initiate the drive for national reconciliation and consensus among the diverse people of Nigeria.
The group said a sovereign national conference, as it describes the conference of ethnic nationalities, had become necessary to check the growing tension in the country, especially the militant actions and bomb blasts.
It says there may be the need for the reform of the 1999 constitution to allow for the convening of a summit of the Nigerian peoples.
According to PRONACO, Nigeria will need to move fast to dialogue and agree on the most suitable political arrangement for its diverse blocs.
