Professor Assassinated in Basra

Al-Taakhi is issued daily by the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

The corpse of professor Salah Abdul-Aziz was found along the side of the road in Basra after he was kidnapped from his house Tuesday night. The Sunni Endowment and the Association of Muslim Clerics in Basra have called for closing the mosques for two days to protest the deteriorating security situations in Basra. A source at the Iraqi Islamic party in Basra said a growing number of killings are sectarian. He added that unidentified gunmen have assassinated one of the party's leaders, sheikh Nawaf Ahmed al-Akrab, in front of his house.
