Presidential polls: Jonathan's victory expected

The winner of Saturday’s Nigerian presidential election should emerge within 48hrs.

Exit polls however strongly point to a win for Goodluck Jonathan, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and incumbent President. The idea of a run-off or second ballot is now remote.

INEC spokesperson, Kayode Idowu said results should start trickling in from early Sunday morning.

According to Idowu, the results from the various polling units will first be collated at the wards, followed by the local governments and then the state. It is at the end of the state collation that results will go to the INEC headquarters for final declaration.

To emerge President, a candidate needs majority of the votes and twenty five percent of the votes cast in two-third of Nigeria’s thirty six States.
