Presidential Poll: Clear win for Jonathan

Presidential Poll: Clear win for Jonathan

Barring any major upset, Goodluck Jonathan will be Nigeria’s President for another four years.

As the Nigerian Election News Report went to press on Sunday, Jonathan had won majority of the votes in Eighteen of the Twenty Three States declared by INEC on Sunday evening.

But close contender Muhammadu Buhari of the Congress for Progressive Change knocked Jonathan off the first position in Sokoto, Kaduna, Kano and Bauchi States; while Nuhu Ribadu of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) grabbed Osun.

There were no other major surprises as Jonathan won in the rest of the States.

Jonathan however scored more than Ninety-Five percent of the votes cast in Five of the states declared.

It is unclear whether such decisive wins will raise alarm amongst the key election observer groups, such as the AU and the EU, who are yet to deliver their verdict on the polls.

In addition to the announcement of the results at the collation Center in Abuja, the Federal Capital, INEC is providing details of the results on its inecnigeria.org website.
