President Receives American Ambassador

Al-Ittihad is published daily by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. Talabani chairs the party.

President Jalal Talabani received US ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad on Monday at his private office. They discussed Iraqi politics, including last Thursday's successful elections. They were considered a victory to all Iraqis, regardless of their ethnicities and religions. The two leaders praised the participation of Sunni Arabs in the elections. They also maintained that it was necessary to form a government uniting the various blocs. They discussed the importance of developing Iraq economically, politically and socially.
