Mrs Ogbeche described the FOI law as an indication that Nigeria was on the path to meeting international standards in democratic practice, as it would enable journalists and the electorate hold government accountable. The FCT Secretary of the union, Mr Emmanuel Ogbeche who also noted that the law would make Nigeria a more open society, urged heads of government agencies not to hesitate in making information available to interested parties.
